CURE Research Internship Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I still apply if I do not meet the eligibility requirements?
    Yes, you can apply, we will consider all applicants.
     
  2. Does the CURE Program provide housing and/or transportation for interns?
    No. Students are responsible for their own housing accomodations and transportation to and from their internship site.
     
  3. Who can be a recommender?
    We prefer the recommender be a teacher or counselor, but will accept recommendation forms from mentors and work supervisors.
     
  4. How many recommendations are required?
    Each applicant is required to submit at least one recommendation form. Recommendation letters will not be accepted, please have your recommender complete the online recommendation form.
     
  5. Is this a paid internship?
    Yes, students will receive a stipend for the successful completion of the internship.
     
  6. Can this internship be done remotely?
    No. All programming will be in-person.
     
  7. Can I take summer school or simultaneously participate in another summer program?
    No. Students are required to participate fully during the entire 8 week program (40 hrs/week, Monday- Friday). Participants will need to attend their internship during normal business hours and attend Friday College Seminar.
     
  8. My family is going on a vacation, can I still apply?
    Yes, you can still apply. Please note that priority will be given to students who are available for the entire 8 week program commitment.
     
  9. Where will the internship program take place?
    Internship sites are located across multiple UCSF campuses in San Francisco, CA.
     
  10. When should I be hearing back after I submit my application?
    We will try our best to notify applicants of their status by the end of April.
