PITCH Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I apply if I don’t meet all of the eligibility requirements?
    All students are welcome to apply. However, only applicants who meet all minimum eligibility requirements (being a rising 10th or 11th grader and having a minimum 2.5 UC/CSU GPA) will be considered for selection.
     
  2. Do I need prior experience in science or healthcare?
    No prior experience in science or healthcare is required.
     
  3. Does the PITCH Program provide housing or transportation?
    No. Participants are responsible for arranging their own housing and transportation to and from program sites in San Francisco, CA.
     
  4. Is this a paid internship?
    No. The PITCH Program is an unpaid educational experience.
     
  5. Can I participate remotely?
    No. All program activities take place in person.
     
  6. Can I attend summer school or join another program during PITCH?
    No. PITCH requires full-time attendance (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM) for all three weeks, as well as participation in the PITCH Health Symposium (6:00–8:30 PM). We are unable to offer exceptions or accommodations.
     
  7. Where does the program take place?
    PITCH is hosted across multiple UCSF campuses in San Francisco, CA.
     
  8. Will meals be provided?
    Lunch will be provided daily.
     
  9. When will I be notified about the status of my application?
    Applicants will receive an update on their status by mid-April or the end of April.
