There are a number of ways that the UCSF and San Francisco Bay Area communities can become involved with CSEO and support our efforts.

Middle School Events

  • COLLEGE FIELD TRIPS: Join students and their teachers as an adult volunteer for a day trip to a university (Stanford, Berkeley, Dominican, etc.). Assist in supervising students and answering college questions that arise throughout the day. (Two trips in the fall and two in the spring.)
  • Plan on college A free, one-day, annual event for Bay Area students in the 8th grade and their parents or guardians. Attendees of Plan on College receive valuable information on course selection for high school, factors that impact college eligibility, college financial aid, and long-term benefits of a college education. Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, directions to rooms, passing out lunch/materials, and giving presentations. This event takes place in late April.

GROUP VISITS: Multiple groups visiting from outside the Bay Area come to UCSF for day trips to learn about medical school. We are continuously looking for volunteers to help us in giving tours, talking about the UCSF experience and how degrees connect with careers in health. These events occur throughout the year.

PITCH counselors commit to the entire program, for the month of July, with several days in early-mid June for planning and curriculum development.
